Dan offered me to help rebrand his uncle's Vietnamese charity, Hope for Viet Orphans. The scope included a full visual identity, a website, and brand strategy & messaging.
The only direction Dan's uncle gave me while working on H4VO's branding was this phrase: "Make it feel like 100 orphans are hugging you!"
So... I ran with that. The result is an engaging, thoughtful, colorful brand that includes resonant symbolism with both American and Vietnamese cultures. The imagery and words speak to the heart of their cause, and a cleaner, more organized approach to how they display their business.
As part of the brand strategy and messaging, I helped structure the entire expression of their business. Together, we created a welcoming environment by adjusting how they speak to their audience (potential donors and volunteers), how they tell their story, and display their services and offerings. I helped them create a tagline, formulate their purpose, mission statement, vision, and brand story. I meticulously combed through hundreds of photos taken over the decade the organization had been running to find the best images.
The website has yet to be developed and there is no scheduled launch date for this project as Dan's uncle is waiting on funding.
1. Mapping the territory
We needed to figure out where to start. Brand strategy offered a framework upon which the visual identity was built. This was a very important step in the creation of the website and set the stage for the copywriting later on.

2. Sketching!
Many ideas flowed, including unifying the Christian Cross with the Buddhist Dharma Wheel to show the union of the two religions for the common goal of helping the orphans thrive, a cube, a sun, a rainbow, a slope... In the end, we chose the river & halo option.
4. Illustrations
I chose a series of fun, bold, bright graphics that would add much needed dynamism and intrigue to the website.
5. Website
A home for all of the elements to be brought together, to tell H4VO's story, and make it easy for people to support the cause.
"I had the pleasure of partnering up with Flore to relaunch a website for a charity organization. Her instincts for creative design were apparent from the get-go. She went above and beyond to capture what made our organization unique and consolidate our identity in a crowded market. Her holistic approach to brand strategy made ideation a smooth process and a truly collaborative effort. I was impressed with how she responded to feedback and was able to incorporate a lot of attention to detail throughout the curation of the site. We look forward to working with Flore in the future as our needs expand."

3. Logo Refinement
We chose the River & Halo logo. The H and the 4 (Hope for) become hands or a bridge passing over the river that is the V for Vietnam, providing safety, structure, and support. The river proceeds to thread through the O for Orphans. The H4V creates momentum for the O to shine and be lifted up to new heights. The O can also symbolize a sun or a golden ring.
