When the business you built no longer fits

There is a particular transitional space when the shell of the identity you have carried for years no longer fits.

This happens in your personal life.

This happens in your business.

The sign that you have reached an inflection point is subtle. The space around your identity begins to calcify. Flexibility, spontaneity, and joy are a far off dream. Decisions feel awkward, heavy, resistant, as if each choice requires dragging your entire being through quicksand.

You have outgrown your identity.

You have outgrown your surroundings.

You have outgrown the language you use to describe what you do and where you are going.

When you are inside the experience, it can be difficult to name what's happening, let alone determine what needs to change. But one thing is clear. It does not feel good.

At this stage, most people come across two options.

Stay, and become increasingly trapped by a world that no longer supports who you are becoming.

Leave, and face the uncertainty of the unknown.

I've lived through these transitions more times than I can count.

Changes of nationality.

Changes of profession.

Changes of identity and language.

I am what's called a third culture kid. By the time I was twelve, I had lived in three countries and spoke multiple languages fluently. I grew up moving between many worlds, observing cultures from the edges.

That lifestyle shaped me deeply. I developed an almost anthropological way of seeing people, cultures, and systems. I've studied how meaning is formed through history, art, belief systems, religion and governance. I pay attention to how people make sense of who they are and when the narratives they carry stop working.

This instinct translates directly into my work.

At Jegayo, navigating complex transitions is not just a side effect of what we do, but the core of the work itself.

We help organizations clarify who they are becoming, not by forcing reinvention, but allowing what already exists to emerge. We bridge cultural insight, systems thinking, and creative direction so businesses can continue growing with integrity and confidence.

In practical terms, this work often shows up when:

  • A highly specialized company is preparing to expand into new markets
  • A multinational organization is navigating a merger or internal restructuring
  • A leadership team needs to attract the right attention, relationships, and opportunities without diluting who they are

When you’re a business owner juggling too many ideas, decisions, or directions at once, it all begins to blur until forward motion moves out of reach.

If that resonates, I invite you to book a 90 minute 1:1 strategy session with me (priced at $180). These sessions are fully customized to your situation, where you're invited to slow down, surface what actually matters, and sink into a clear direction you can act on with confidence.

Sessions offered in English, French, and Spanish.
