Jegayo is a branding studio based in Houston, Texas that crafts deeply resonant experiences, opening up spaces for people and their businesses to refine their frequency and step into their power with grace and authenticity.
My name is Flore.
I've been a lover of art my entire life. Somewhere along the way, I got quite good at it and started winning multiple drawing and painting awards throughout my time in public school. When I was 14, I got my first illustration gig drawing houses for a local real estate agent. In 2015, I won a presidential merit scholarship at Pratt Institute and moved to New York City to deepen my study.
I graduated with from Pratt Institute with honors and a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration in 2019, but my career really started while I was still in college. In 2017 when I interned as an editorial illustrator at the leftist online political magazine Salon Media. I drew portraits of almost every politician in the US Congress and Senate, along with numerous presidents and talk show hosts. Through Salon, I got the opportunity to work as an illustrator for Médecins Sans Frontières. As I struggled to pay for college in NYC, I took up a part-time event portrait artist gig and drew hundreds of people at events all over the tri-state area. My art got the attention of ex-Landor executive Andrea Katz, who in 2018 hired me as a graphic design intern at her Manhattan branding agency Ideon. Under her mentorship/apprenticeship, I learned the ins and outs of all this branding, strategy, and business. In March of 2020, right before Covid-19 overtook the country, I left New York City and started working remotely part time for the boutique branding & marketing agency Bright Development, (where I am now the Lead Creative Designer). Still looking to find myself in illustration, in 2020 through Amplify Education, I illustrated a 48-page children's book "Kate's Book" for the Texas Public Education system. I went corporate in 2022 and got my first salaried position as a full time graphic designer at the world leading bio-chemical start-up Solugen. The office politics & cubicle life did not suite me and in 2023, I left for the agency life with Bright again and started my independent branding studio Jegayo.
